In a town near where our office is, there is a guy who runs a cleaning company, and he’s been in business forever. He does ok. But his business doesn’t grow. He had a terrible website for a very long time. Then, he spent a ton of money doing a NEW website and it looked a lot better, but it barely had any effect.
We looked into the situation for him. It turns out, his ranking was great, top of the maps, top organic, and everything, but still no calls. Why? The reason was because his address, and therefore his listing was in a town with a population of 6,000 people. And on all four sides around him he has towns with populations of more than 30,000 people – but because he wasn’t aware of how Google works, and how local SEO and marketing works, not only did he not know how to change the situation, he didn’t even understand that he had a problem. But in those larger towns, he was not ranked anywhere near page one or the top of the maps. He was invisible. His fancy website had little to no effect.
